This chapter will present an overview of previous experimental and
theoretical work on the tilt aftereffect. First, a brief review of
the visual system and visual processing areas of the brain will be
given. Next, an outline of the research and theories on tilt
aftereffects to date will be presented, followed by a discussion of
previous mathematical and computational models of the TAE and related
aspects of early visual processing.
